My fiancé and I are both VERY confused about how asking for a job app is disrespectful and has an attitude, and how a STORE MANAGER can set this kind of example in front of other staff and customers. Will not be returning, however will be contacting corporate.
APPALING AND UNPROFESSIONAL!! Upon first walking in, my fiancé and I approached 3 employees in friendly conversation. He POLITELY asked them if they were currently hiring, which unsurprisingly they were. One gentleman that worked there told us that the app would take ABOUT 30 minutes to complete and my fiancé asked me if I wanted to wait or come back. At that time, a STORE MANAGER sitting and trying on shoes yells at us in an additionally hateful tone at my fiancé: "ARE YOU ASKING FOR A JOB APPLICATION FOR HER?!? THAT'S UNPROFESSIONAL". I said, "Excuse me? No mam', this is not for me, I already have a job with local EMS and Fire." I walked away while my fiancé was receiving his job app to fill out. I moseyed around and as I was going to walk across the store while I was waiting, I overhear unnoticed as I am standing there listening about 3 feet away the STORE MANAGER and another associate talking about my fiancé and I WITH some customers waiting behind her in line to be checked out. The two were talking about how we both had an attitude, she didn't "know why he's even continuing to fill it out", and how we disrespected her in her store and I over heard some other disrespectful fragments from that conversation. I politely asked where my fiancé was and she stared at me and hatefully said "he's over there in a chair... where he isn't hoarding my countertop." I then walked to my fiancé, grabbed his app paper, told him he WAS NOT going to be working there, slammed the clipboard on their desk, and informed them of how unprofessional their behavior was, we will not be applying here, and a thank you for showing your true colors before he worked there.
Initially I was very upset however the store manager provided excellent customer service and corrected the problem. This doesn't seem like a big deal as she was doing what she should however sadly most businesses do not provide even basic customer service so to receive excellent customer service was extremely refreshing! I secretly bought a pair of sneakers (size, brand and style) that my daughter had tried on in September when school shopping and hid them away for her birthday in November. She picked out her school shoes and I sent her to another store while I paid. When she left I ran back and grabbed a box of another sneaker she had also asked for and after paying ran them out to the car then met up with her in the mall. Of course I didn't keep the receipt, why would I, she had tried them on, they fit and she liked them. Unfortunately come November when she opened them we found each shoe was a different size!! I was so upset that they had not checked this when I paid and of course almost 3 months later they no longer have the matching sneaker or that style of sneaker and I don't have a receipt....you know where I'm going with this! Thanks to a wonderful Manager that realized it was not my mistake we were able to come to a conclusion that made everyone happy. Thank you very much!!
