Good place for kids. They have play area while you wait for food. Fast service.
**OVERPRICED FOR POOR QUALITY FOOD**
Just ate lunch here for the first time and we are VERY impressed. The quality and taste of the food was awesome! Everything we had was delicious. Believe me, this is much more than an ice cream shop. They have the best lunch around. Also, very reasonable prices in a family friendly cow themed atmosphere.
New Bern has very few places to entertain young children indoors. Cow Cafe is a great place to take my three year old on a rainy day... They have ice cream and hot dogs and burgers. Anything a kid could want with a great play area. The staff is also A1!!
This is one of my favorite stops in downtown New Bern. Their ice cream is made in house. Their sandwiches are better than you would expect in a premier sandwich shop much less an ice cream parlor. Don't miss this experience.
Also, don't go when they say their open, I was there at 10am and it said on their sign that they open at 10am but no employee got there till 15 after, then had to set up before tending to me. Sometimes no one even asks what I'd like to get or gives me any attention, as if I'm not there. And I've had a few times where they've been rude in general and annoyed if I ask for more than one sample.
The kids love the train in the main area and the play area in the back area but the food is far over priced for the quality of the food. I had a turkey sandwich with coleslaw on the side. When i got it, I noticed the turkey was just lunch meat and it was a pretty skimpy for a $9 sandwich, but then it got worse when I put the coleslaw on my sandwich and took a bite of it, and that's when I noticed they gave me coleslaw that went bad. It ruined the sandwich and I asked them to check if it was bad and they agreed that they served spoiled coleslaw but only gave me a dollar back for the price of the coleslaw that ruined the entire meal. In the future, I'll only be getting ice cream from here and letting my kids play(which never seems clean). (I hope I don't get sick)
