We stepped in this afternoon for some coffee to warm up on a cold rainy afternoon. The decor was basic with a lot of "stuff" stored inside. The guy behind the counter handed us a menu while talking to a lady drinking her coffee. He glanced back at us to take our order while continuing to talk to the lady at the bar. He poured our coffee from a carafe sitting on the counter which was warm but not hot. Coffee wasn't bad but should have been hot. Counter staff not very attentive.

First time can be a charm, I was expecting different I guess, this coffee shop is said to be a New Bern beacon for 25 years,however, it seems rather tired and could use needed attention. I ordered a regular coffee made with the same coffee maker I have at home, which is fine ... but coffee tasted Iike not enough coffee or too much water. Maybe the specialty cups here are the specialty? Anyways, old school downtown coffee shop vibe with homemade art and jazz. Nice to see a local owned establishment.
Y'all! All the reviews are great but after my experience, I'm questioning if this is even a real coffee shop. I'm from out of town and wanted a local coffee shop. I try to shop local and try new places. I walked in, there weren't many people but I figured I'm making a late start whatever. There were 4 guys sitting around. One guy gets up and asks "Coffee?" And I said yes. He said "Make it simple xyz isn't here." I said okay just give me a large dark three sugars. He said "we can do that." He pulls a carafe off a coffee maker you'd have at home. Still I'm thinking okay maybe they make their own blends or something, still willing to give them a shot. He pulls out sugar shakers and one has about 10 LIVE BUGS running around in it!!!!! I'm speechless. He still expected me to pay! He gave it to me for free but needless to say I tossed it and ran straight to the nearest Starbucks!!!
What a great place. Labor Day visit. They were closing and were still able to serve us. Excellent.
