Still awaiting my power to be turned on. I am a new customer, renting a house in New Bern. I contacted Thursday after signing my lease agreement about what I would need to turn on my electricity as well as the time-frame to which it would be done. I was told as long as the application for service was turned in before 11am I would receive same day service. Friday I had the application and deposit paid at 10am. I received a call Friday around noon that the address would need to be "inspected", I have rented for three different times with three different electric utilities and never heard of this. My long-term new bern residents that are my co-workers are confused as much as I am. Customer service rep stated that the inspection would get done on Friday but service would be turned on that Monday. Its now Monday, inspection was not done, electricity is not on. I have now been without power for five days, and looks like will be another 1-2 days without power.
The absolute worst utility company I have done business with. Prepare to be overcharged for electric and sewage.
Every time I call and try to ask a question whoever answered the phone always has an attitude. If you don't know how to talk to people or don't want to be bothered with customers then you need to find a new job. And it's always a one particular female, that always has a nasty attitude. They need to get a whole new group of customer service reps. I'll be so glad when I get out of New Bern this whole town is nothing but a joke
I could put 0 stars. These people are the BIGGEST rip off in New Bern, NC! You fall behind and they tack a security deposit which is double the bill you are trying to pay! There are 2 small children in the home and they threaten to turn off the electric, the only source of heat. Well rock on! We are not celebrating Christmas because we simple cant afford it.The kids are 1 and 6 and with a 1 income family we are trying which doesn't mean anything to them or their over the top prices! On top of that, only a small percentage goes towards the bills we pay. The other money from our pockets when to Remodel their building, buy a nice big 65 inch flat screen TV and God knows what else. Its funny that they don't even know what LIHEAP is! New Bern Utilities does NOT care about the customer, they only care about money! I suggest you move into a location where you dont have to deal with this electric company or convert over to natural gas! STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN!! They get a big fat F in my book!

ive lived all over North Carolina and this company by far is the worst for utilities. Nothing but attitude with customer service. I've had four straight months of not receiving a statement, unaware of my due date so they nail you with several late charges. Horrible rates, avoid living in Craven county if at all possible until they change! Paid my bill before the due date and the assholes come and shut off my service with a zero balance. I have two small children in my house and they decided to shut my service of for god only knows why. Horrible service. 01/17/17 What a joke, paid the full balance on my bill only to be shut off two days later. After taking time off at work just to go to their office i find out they credited someone elses account for 600. , not one dime was credited to the account i gave them. They love to pull charges from nowhere and sock you with them. Horrible horrible service.
